How do multipliers attach to cells?

What does the golden dragon do?
When the golden dragon triggers a coin collection at the end of a tumble sequence, coins worth up to 500x are placed on the marked cells. Coins grow by each cell’s multiplier, and if up to three pot symbols appear together, the on-screen coin total is paid with multipliers applied.
How does the bonus unlock?
