Lucky New Year

Lucky New Year is a 5×3, 25-payline slot themed around the Lunar New Year of the Dog. On a screen full of red lanterns and firecrackers, you can spin right away with the free demo. Released in February 2018, it has a simple setup that’s quick to get used to.

On your first spins

The first thing you notice is puppy symbols stacking like towers and dropping onto the reels. These puppies are wilds, so when they pile up across every reel, the paylines connect all at once. In the base game, something hits about once every 2.39 spins on average, so the screen is rarely quiet.

How wins happen

You win when matching symbols land from the left on 25 paylines. Money lantern symbols also appear, and when 6 or more lanterns show up on one screen, you move on to the respin round. During the respins, the lanterns stay in place, and you can go for up to 15 prizes and one of three jackpots.

Once you enter the bonus round

When scatters land, the Blazing Reels free spins begin. The middle reels merge into one giant symbol as they fall, so a single hit can fill several paylines at once for a big picture. Free spins trigger about once every 193 spins on average, so you may have to wait a bit.

This game by the numbers

There are two RTP versions, 96.00% and 93.99%, and volatility is on the low side. Wins over 1,000x come about once every 32,810 spins on average, and the max 2,500x is calculated at roughly 1 in 5 billion. You can choose a bet from 0.25 to 250.

In one line

It’s a light holiday-themed slot that adds respins and jackpots to frequent small wins. It’s a solid game for getting your first taste of the money respin structure in Pragmatic Play slots.
