Scourge of Rome

Scourge of Rome is a slot that follows the expedition of Hannibal, the Carthaginian general who was the greatest threat to Rome in 218 BC, as he leads his army across the snowy Alps. It was released on August 16, 2024 and you can play it right away with the free demo.

What is the story of Scourge of Rome?

This 6×4 slot is based on the real history of Hannibal crossing the rugged Alps and marching to the edge of northern Italy. In the base game, you pass through the Alps with Hannibal’s strategy to unlock bonus features, and the Abyssways mechanic and Flip Wild feature debuted in this game. If you like the historical themes of Play’n GO slots, it is one not to miss.

How does Flip Wild work?

Flip Wild triggers when 2 or more wild symbols land in the base game. Each wild has a 50-50 chance of flipping and can be upgraded into a wild that covers the entire reel. When several succeed at once, your chances of winning go up considerably. The result depends heavily on how many wilds succeed, so every spin feels like watching a coin toss.

How does Abyssways work?

Abyssways is a new variable ways system used during free spins. It changes the winning paths differently from the 4,096 ways of the base game, but the provided description cuts off at this point, so it is best to check the detailed rules in the demo. Since it is a new mechanic, I recommend spinning the demo a few times to get used to it. Compared with the base game, the difference will be clear.

How do free spins unlock?

Free spins open when 3 or more scatter symbols land, and Abyssways applies during them. Scourge of Rome has no bonus buy, so you have to collect scatters yourself even in the demo. In the base game, flip wilds are the main fun, helping you hold on until free spins. The tension of the expedition across the Alps is built into the feature flow as well.

What should I check first in the demo?

The RTP is 96.20% and the max win is 40,000x your bet. There is no official volatility figure, so use the demo to count how often the flip wilds succeed and get a feel for it yourself. It is also worth checking how much Abyssways widens the winning paths in free spins. You need to experience both mechanics to see what makes this game special.
