Scroll of Dead

Scroll of Dead is a Dead series slot that takes you back to ancient Egypt, following the legend that whoever finds the scroll of Shai, the god of fate, holds destiny in their hands. It launched on May 20, 2021, and you can play it right away in the free demo with no sign-up.

Who is Scroll of Dead recommended for?

The official description presents this game as ideal for both slot beginners and enthusiasts, especially fans of the Dead series. It adds that if you liked Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead, you’ll like this one. It carries on the signature series feel of Play’n GO slots, famous for Book of Dead, while adding a new twist: the 6th reel.

How is the locked 6th reel opened?

The 6th reel on the right side of the screen is locked, and you need a scarab key to open it. When scarab scatters gather and you enter free spins, the scarabs join forces and magically unlock the 6th reel. The moment the normally closed reel opens is the signature scene of this game. As the board widens from five reels to six, the area an expanding symbol can cover grows as well.

What role does the scarab symbol play?

The scarab is both a scatter and a wild at the same time. When 3 or more land, free spins open, and the rest of the time it substitutes for other symbols to build winning combinations. One symbol handles both bonus entry and win assistance, so anyone who has played the Dead series will find it familiar. It’s fun that the key into free spins and the key that opens the 6th reel are both scarabs.

How is the expanding symbol in free spins chosen?

When free spins start, one symbol is randomly chosen as the special expanding symbol. If this symbol lands during free spins, it covers the entire reel to create more winning paths, and it may even cover all the reels. The official description says that when the screen is covered like this, you can aim for up to 375,000 coins. The series’ trademark big hit is still alive.

What should I check first in the demo?

RTP is 94.28% and the max win is 7,500x your bet. There is no official volatility figure, so get a feel for it yourself in the demo. It helps to compare how often 3 scarabs land, and how well the screen gets covered up to the 6th reel when a certain symbol is picked as the expanding symbol in free spins. Be sure to check the screen after the 6th reel opens, too.
