Overview
iTech Labs is an online game testing and certification body headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. It checks whether the random number generators (RNG) used by online casinos and game suppliers are fair and whether a game’s RTP matches what is stated, and issues certificates. It certifies to the standards of several jurisdictions, including Australia, Alderney, Gibraltar, and Kahnawake.
Unlike GLI and BMM, which started from testing offline slot machines, it has focused on online game testing from the start. That is why you often see the iTech Labs certification mark at the bottom of sites run by smaller providers, Curaçao-licensed casinos, and crypto casinos.
Main services
| Services | Details |
|---|---|
| RNG Testing and Certification | Statistical testing to confirm that random numbers are unpredictable and evenly distributed |
| RTP Audits | Receives actual game records, calculates the return rate over a set period, and issues a report |
| Game Testing | Testing of the rules and operation of casino games, poker, and live games |
| Software and Security Review | Platform software testing, network security checks, technical due diligence |
RNG Sealing Method
iTech Labs “seals” the RNG module it has tested and automatically checks that module’s digital signature every day. If someone secretly changes the RNG after testing, the signature changes and the tampering can be detected. The key point is that it does not stop at a single test; it keeps verifying that nothing has changed afterward.
How to Check a Certificate
- It’s normal for clicking the iTech Labs logo on a casino site to link to the certificate (PDF) on the iTech Labs site.
- Check that the company name on the certificate matches the site’s domain and that the date isn’t too old.
- RTP audit reports show actual results over a specific period. Results over a short period can differ from the RTP (law of large numbers).
Certification means the game operates fairly. It does not vouch for the operator as a whole, nor does it mean players can win. A similar body is eCOGRA.
