Overview

Push Gaming is a slot development studio founded in London, UK in 2010. Co-founder James Marshall is the CEO and Winston Lee is the COO. Based in London and Malta, it supplies games to more than 200 operators.

Push Gaming focuses on polishing each game rather than growing its catalog. At the time of the 2023 acquisition it had only about 30 games, but several hits came out of that group, such as Jammin’ Jars, Razor Shark and Big Bamboo. Its hallmarks are a mobile-first design built for vertical smartphone screens and high volatility aimed at wins of up to tens of thousands of times your bet.

The LeoVegas Acquisition

On May 1, 2023, Swedish online casino group LeoVegas announced through its investment arm LeoVentures that it would acquire a majority stake in Push Gaming. LeoVegas is a subsidiary of US-based MGM Resorts International, so Push Gaming became part of the MGM group as well. The purchase price was not disclosed, and Push Gaming continues to operate as an independent company under its existing management. It had more than 100 employees at the time.

Jammin’ Jars

A cluster pays slot where fruit jam jars roll around and stack multipliers. Matching symbols that touch each other win, and the jar multipliers grow as the cascades continue. It is the signature title that put Push Gaming on the map.

Razor Shark

An underwater shark-themed slot where mystery symbols unfold and multipliers stack up. The max win is 85,475x, and its sequel Razor Returns raised that to 100,000x.

Frequently Used Features

Cluster pays, consecutive wins (cascades), mystery symbols, free spins where multipliers rise as you progress, and “instant prize” symbols that pay out right away show up often in Push Gaming titles.

Company Traits

Push Gaming is not a company that releases a lot of games. It had only about 30 games at the time of the 2023 acquisition, but each one became a hit and the games are now supplied to more than 200 operators. It is a leading boutique studio that aims to “make fewer games that people love for longer.”

What the LeoVegas Acquisition Means

LeoVegas is a mobile casino operator that started in Sweden and was acquired by US casino group MGM Resorts in 2022. When LeoVegas bought a majority stake in Push Gaming in 2023, Push Gaming came under the MGM group. The management team (CEO James Marshall, COO Winston Lee) stayed on and keeps making games independently, and a possible link to MGM’s US online casino business has drawn attention.
