Controversy surrounding RTG casinos
RTG is a company that leases software to casino operators. The problem is that many of the operators using RTG software have been operating under loosely regulated licenses such as Curacao. The following problems have been pointed out.
- Cases where large casino groups using RTG received many complaints over delayed or denied withdrawals
- RTG operators classified as “rogue” casinos by casino watchdog communities
- A case where the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) cracked down on RTG-based casinos that broke Australian gambling law
- A dispute over whether automated software was used, involving a player who won 1.3 million dollars from a 1,000-dollar deposit in 2004
What matters far more than the RTG game itself is where the operator offering that game is based and under which license it operates. Don’t trust a casino just because of the provider’s name.
Cautions
RTG games are widely used in less regulated international markets rather than in the strictly regulated UK and European markets. In Korea, using online casinos without government approval is illegal (casinos in Korea).
