Hacksaw’s Epic SixSixSix: Why the Max Win Went Up by 4,000x
Hacksaw Gaming has re-released its 2024 game SixSixSix as an Epic version. The gameplay is unchanged, and only the max win goes up from 16,666x to 20,666x. We look at why a single number was changed through the new bonus buy and the broader Epic series.

Key takeaways
- Hacksaw Gaming released Epic SixSixSix on October 22. The original SixSixSix came out in July 2024.
- The gameplay, including the Wicked Wheels, the three bonuses and the 5×4 grid, stays the same, and only the max win rises from 16,666x to 20,666x.
- Bonus buys have grown to six, and the 2,000x High Roller Feature Spin hits the max win about once in every 11 or 12 tries.
- The Epic version is the third this year, after Epic Bullets and Bounty and Epic Ze Zeus.
Fittingly for a game built on three sixes, the max win also ends in 666. The cap for SixSixSix was 16,666x, and Epic SixSixSix is 20,666x. The ending digits were kept and only the leading digit changed from 1 to 2. In its official introduction, Hacksaw Gaming describes this change in a single line: “a higher max win.” So what was the extra 4,000x added for?
What changed and what stayed the same
Far more stayed the same than changed. The 5×4 grid, the 14 paylines, the ‘6’ symbols that land only on reels 1, 3 and 5, and the blue and red Wicked Wheels that spin in place are all identical to the original. The blue wheel holds additive multipliers from 5x to 100x, multiplying multipliers from 2x to 10x, and the max win, while the red wheel raises the additive multipliers to up to 500x and the multiplying multipliers to up to 20x. The structure is also unchanged: one ‘6’ on the wheel opens Speak of the Devil, two open Let Hell Break Loose, and three open What the Hell.

Three changes stand out. Teal cracks have been added to the screen, the max win is higher, and the bonus buy menu is longer.

The new buy menu gives the answer
The Epic version’s bonus buy has six options: Wicked Feature Spin at 50x, Red Wicked Feature Spin (a guaranteed red wheel) at 100x, Speak of the Devil at 100x, Let Hell Break Loose at 250x, What the Hell at 1,000x, and High Roller Feature Spin at 2,000x.
The last line here is the key. According to Hacksaw Gaming’s official description, the High Roller Feature Spin hits the max win about once in every 11 or 12 tries. Plug in the numbers and the reason becomes clear. 20,666x divided by 11 is about 1,879x, and divided by 12 is about 1,722x. That means roughly 85% to 94% of the 2,000x buy price comes from the max win alone. Running the same calculation with the original cap of 16,666x gives only 1,389x to 1,515x. To build a buy option that raises the max win probability this far, the cap itself has to go up for the math to work.
In other words, the 4,000x is less a number meant to offer a ‘bigger dream’ and more a design value that makes room for a buy option aimed squarely at the max win. This is an interpretation calculated from published figures, not an official statement. In the free demo you can press this buy menu with a virtual balance, but that does not mean real results will follow this ratio. 1 in 11 is an average based on a very long run of trials.
Three approaches in the Epic series
Hacksaw Gaming has continued its trend this year of re-releasing popular games as Epic versions. But each of the three games handles the max win in a different way.

| The Epic version | Original max win | Epic max win | Highlighted changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Epic Bullets and Bounty | 20,000x | 20,000x | Higher volatility, Epic bonus buy |
| Epic Ze Zeus (August 18) | 10,000x | 50,000x | Max cap 5x, volatility 5/5 |
| Epic SixSixSix (October 22) | 16,666x | 20,666x | High Roller Feature Spin, 6 buys |
Bullets and Bounty raised the volatility without touching the cap. Ze Zeus went the other way and raised the cap fivefold, from 10,000x to 50,000x. SixSixSix sits in between. It raises the cap by only about 24%, and instead adds a new buy option that targets that cap. The ‘Epic’ name is the same, but each original was changed in a different place.
The original doesn’t go away
The Epic version does not replace the original. The original stays as it is, and the Epic comes out as a separate game for players who want a rougher ride. For the operator, a proven game can be launched again like a new release, and for players, it offers a different math model on rules they already know.
Hit frequency is low at about 17%, and volatility is 5/5, the highest level by Hacksaw’s scale. The bigger the max win number gets, the more rarely you see it. Running the two versions side by side lets you see for yourself how differently the same Wicked Wheel moves.
You can continue with the original in the SixSixSix free demo, and with the other Epic versions and new releases in the Hacksaw Gaming free slots collection.
