“It’s not just another game.” That’s what Relax Gaming’s Chief Product Officer Toni Omahony said when introducing Money Plane. Released on July 30, it’s the first arcade-style game Relax has ever made. Instead of spinning reels, you get a plane in the air.
Omahony added, “It was a chance to extend our creativity and quality into a new style of game,” and “we worked hard to create a fun arcade experience that appeals to a broad range of players.” Slot companies rarely step into the arcade genre. That’s why they put their signature series name on the first title.
Money Train Switched to a Plane
As the title suggests, its roots are in Money Train. This series, which represents Relax Gaming, started as a Wild West train robbery story and ran for four entries. Money Plane moves that world into the sky. The cover image also shows a red light plane scattering banknotes over a Western town.
Omahony described it as “taking fans of the Money Train world to a completely new stage” and “a familiar yet new adventure.” Though it shares the name, the way it plays differs from the series. If Money Train was famous for its Hold & Spin bonus, Money Plane comes as a separate arcade-style genre.
Choose Volatility from Five Levels
The standout feature in the official announcement is the volatility choice. There are five volatility levels, and each level has a different max win. Pick a low level for a steadier flow, or a high level if you’re chasing a big multiplier in one go.
In regular slots, volatility is a fixed value set by the developer, and few games let players choose it. Money Plane hands that choice to the player. Per our game page, the overall max win is 10,000x your bet.
10,000x is a low number compared with the Money Train series. The first game had 20,000x, the second 50,000x, the third 100,000x, and the fourth rose to 150,000x. Money Plane only borrows the name and isn’t a game to measure by the same yardstick. The weight shifts from the big slot hit to the fun of choosing a level and to achievement rewards.
Achievement Rewards Included
Another feature is achievement-based rewards. You earn rewards for hitting set goals, and Relax explained that this keeps players engaged longer and gives operators a chance to drive long-term engagement too.
Achievement systems are common in mobile games but still unfamiliar in casino games. It’s a choice that suits the arcade genre name well. The announcement didn’t go into detail about which achievements exist or what the rewards are.
Money Plane by the Numbers
RTP is 97%, high even among Relax games. Hit frequency is 33%, roughly one win every three rounds. The bet range is narrow, from 0.10 to 1, and there is no bonus buy.
In the demo, you can switch between the five volatility levels to compare how differently the same game plays out. Alternating between low and high levels a few times quickly shows that the level choice is the heart of this game. If you’ve only played reel slots, it’s best to learn the rules in the demo first.
Money Train 5 Two Months Later
The Money Plane announcement came with a teaser: the fifth entry in the series, Money Train 5, arrives in September. Omahony said, “With Money Train 5 on the way too, it’s a good time for series fans.” Money Train 5 did launch on September 24, and the details are covered in our Money Train 5 article.
Relax called Money Plane “an expansion into a new game category.” It’s the first work to take the Money Train name outside of slots. You can see other Relax games in the Relax Gaming game list.
