Overview
Games Global is an online casino game company founded in 2021 on the Isle of Man with private equity backing. In May 2022 it acquired Microgaming‘s game portfolio and distribution business (Quickfire), instantly becoming a major game supplier. Its CEO is Walter Bugno, formerly of IGT and Lottomatica.
After the acquisition, Microgaming focused on platform, licensing and regulatory compliance services, while game development and distribution moved to Games Global. That is why most slots once called “Microgaming games” are now distributed under the Games Global name.
Studio ecosystem
Rather than making every game itself, Games Global is structured to exclusively distribute games made by more than 40 in-house and partner studios. Each studio keeps its creative independence, while Games Global handles the technology platform, regulatory certification and distribution.
| Studios (examples) | Highlights |
|---|---|
| Stormcraft Studios | One of Games Global’s flagship studios |
| Gameburger Studios | Studios behind several hit games |
| Just For The Win (JFTW) | A studio built by developers from Sweden |
| Alchemy Gaming, Foxium, Snowborn Games | Each with its own distinctive themes and structure |
| Pulp Fiction, Northern Lights Gaming, Neon Valley | Supplies slots across many genres |
Of its more than 1,300 in-house games, slots make up most of the revenue, and it also has table games, video poker and live casino games.
Jackpot business
Games Global’s signature title is Mega Moolah, inherited from Microgaming. It is a progressive jackpot that pools bets from many casinos into one prize, and it has produced several wins worth tens of millions of euros. Games Global also runs the Wowpot jackpot, whose top tier starts at a very high amount.
In progressive jackpot games, part of each bet goes into the jackpot, so the return rate of the base game without the jackpot is often lower than in regular slots. It also helps to know that the odds of hitting a big jackpot are extremely low.
Top games
- Mega Moolah series – progressive jackpots
- Thunderstruck series – a long-running Norse mythology series (Norse mythology theme)
- Immortal Romance – a classic fan favorite with a vampire theme
- Hot as Hades Power Combo – Greek mythology theme
Going public
In 2024, Games Global pursued a listing on the New York Stock Exchange in the US and even set a price range (16 to 19 dollars per share), but it withdrew the listing plan in May of that year.
License
Holds licenses in regulated markets such as the UK UKGC and the Malta MGA. Even the same game can have a different RTP version depending on the market and casino it is offered in (RTP versions).
